The Clan Campbell tartan more commonly known as “Black Watch” tartan was worn by a group that patrolled the Highlands after the Jacobite rebellion of 1715. This was the only tartan permitted by the government that could be worn after the battle of Culloden in 1746, in which many Scots yet again rebelled against the English. It is often worn by those without a specific clan or tartan.
The colours used for the tartan are blue, green and black.
